PACKET SNIFFER USING JAVA

I want to make packet sniffer using java , i have not worked on any network based application in java , anyone has any idea or experience about making this type of tool?
please help me if anyone has then send me code , project or reference to some source and also mention any good packet sniffer except wireshark !!!
