OVM server cannot install on GPT boot partition

670524Sep 1 2010 — edited Sep 19 2011
Hi All,

We have a HP Server here with 16 drives 300 gb each.
We have created 1 big logical drive of almost 4 TB , to have Big VM's each of 1/1.5 TB

When tried to install Oracle VM server it says " Your boot partition is on disk using GPT partitioning scheme but this machine cannot boot using GPT "

The limitation of MBR is 2 TB of disksize and so by default it goes to GPT I think.

Is the kernel of Oracle VM 2.2 programmed to parse GPT structure in order to provide access to the partitions the disk contains. ??

Is there a way to have 1 big logical drive and install OVM server on it and make the BIG BIG partition for /OVS.
Is there any other way to install OVM server and use all the 4 TB disk size to have 2 -3 Big VM's each of 1 / 1.5 TB

Has anybody tried this before.

Thanks.......................
