OVM: Present Raw Disk To VM

1046209Oct 8 2013 — edited Oct 10 2013

Hi Guru's,

I would like to present a virtual disk directly to a VM. Can you please assist with a step by step procedure to achieve this? I am new to OVM and Linux

Please assist with the following as well:

1. how do you scan for new virtual disks presented to Linux from the FC SAN?

2. how do you register these volumes to the native Multipathing Software?

3. How do you map a raw virtual disk to a VM? we want to install Red hat on this VM

we want to change from a Central repository to raw disk mapping on OVM as we have a similar setup at DR and want to do storage/block level replication and failover critical VMs to DR instead of a complete repository.

Configuration overview:

4x VM Servers

1x FC Centralised Storage Array

We are running OVM 2.2.0

We have 1 repository with a couple of VMs
