Outputtext with multiple lines [11g]

I've an issue with an outputtext in an af:table. The outputtext should hold zero or more lines of text. Problem is that I can't make it display several "rows".

I've tried using an Inputtext with read-only - and rows =4. It works. Except when there's only one or two lines. How can I make it collapse?

And; have I used the right component her?
