Output of crsctl stat res -t. What is 1 and 2? Why are they in reverse?

Hey guys,

I have set up a RAC DB on a 2 node cluster 12101 on OEL 6.4. The DB running is on 11204.

When i issue the crsctl stat res -t command, I see the order to be reversed.

ora.orcl.db

      1        ONLINE  ONLINE       rac2                     Open,STABLE

      2        ONLINE  ONLINE       rac1                     Open,STABLE

Whey is 1 showing as rac2 and 2 showing as rac1?

Before starting the database on rac2, it was showing the below status.

ora.orcl.db

      1        OFFLINE OFFLINE                               Instance Shutdown,STABLE

      2        ONLINE  ONLINE       rac1                     Open,STABLE

Why was 2 running on rac1? Can anyone tell me what 1 and 2 depict and its importance?

I check the instance number, and rac1 has orcl1 with instance_number as 1, rac2 has orcl2 with instance_number as 2.

Thanks
