Oteron Linux and Oracle
Hi,
I saw that some people had some problems getting the product to install oracle on hardware having a combination of Opteron processor and linux running in 64Bits.
Is the software Redhat and/or Suse provide for the Opteron the same for Intel X86 and the software for AMD opteron the same software?
If so do I understand that the switching from 64 to 32 bits and back is performed with kernel parameters.
If the Opteron and the X86 architecture share the same linux distribution, I assume that when running an opteron in 32bit mode is not different from running the X86 architecture for as far as Oracle is considered (leaving performance issues aside).
I know it is a lot of questions, but I do find this linux distribution slightly confusing compared to UNIX where the apart from the intel architecture the issues mentioned above are less of an issue.
