oscilloscope in java

hi,
i am new to this technology and i have to build an application which will draw a moving oscilloscope.
as i have no idea in this field, can someone please help me something to start with.
maybe a tutorial or documentation on how it is to be done. i've searched the web for looking at oscilloscope in java, but couldnt find any information/documentation on it.
