os_authent_prefix

This is regarding Oracle variable os_authent_prefix.I am using externally authenticated user ID in Oracle.

My application wants this to be set a null however it is not allowed as per my clients security policy. Can there be any alternate to this where in we can set any other value giving the same functionality as of null.
