Ortho view setup

843799Oct 1 2002 — edited Oct 24 2002
I'm trying to set up an overhead/plan, ortho view and am having some trouble.

Keep getting a non-congruent error when using transform3d.ortho defining a square view area via the params.

Is this because the scale may be different to the real window? If it is, how do you find out the real scale when the view platform is created before the view?

I also tried setting up the projection as parallel, and then scaling the view platform (to make sure I could see the whole scene) but got VERY weird frustum effects. What happens to the eyepoint and clipping planes when scaling?

The near clip plane dist seemed to increase when I scaled up meaning I had to set the view further back ... incidentaly, setting the near clip distance to 1.0 in the view afterward didn't seem to make ANY difference, still had to be WAY back to see the object!

Ideally, I'd like to be able to just use transform3d.ortho & lookAt but both give me those congruecy errors ... any ideas?

Thanks - Matt
