Oracle XE on Red Hat Linux release 9 (Shrike)

I am trying to install OracleXE on

Red Hat Linux release 9 (Shrike)
Kernel 2.4.20-18.9 on an i686

when I installed the OracleXE the installation work fine...
but, when I tried to start database or run sqlplus It did not start giving following
error.....

bash $sqlplus
sqlplus: relocation error: /usr/lib/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/../lib/libclntsh.so.10.1: symbol semtimedop, version GLIBC_2.3.3 not defined in file libc.so.6 with link
time reference

bash $

Please help
