Oracle XE and Oracle 9i

Hi,

I have imported my data from oracle 9i to XE for development ( Visual Basic application) and working fine. the application is running on oracle 9i. Can i deploy my new development that is developed using XE to client side that is runnig using 9i without disturbing their existing functionality?
I mean Is it possible i will use XE for development of new module and it will work fine on Oracle 9i by integrating that module to existing application? If yes then How?
