Oracle VM PVM Drivers

Janne MFeb 15 2014 — edited Mar 21 2014

Hi Community Specialists!

I am currenty building Oracle VM infrastucture for our customer. The goal is to virtualize Oracle database and couple of other Windows servers for applications using the db. I downloaded and installed the latest version (3.2.7) VM servers and Manager software and the infrastructure is up and working fine. I installed Windows 2008 R2 with PV drivers found from the Oracle VM download site and everything is ok, 2008R2 works like a charm.

The next I tried was Windows Server 2012. I have read confusing information that there is no support for 2012 in Oracle VM 3 but I have also found information that it should work with PV Drivers. So I tried ant the installation was ok and the Server 2012 started as supposed. But the problem came with the PV drivers found from the Oracle VM download site, they did not install properly and there is unregonized devices in device manager. Also the network is only 100Mbps, not 1Gbps as in 2008R2.

The publically available PV drivers version is 3.0.1, and this is probably the reason for my problem. I have found information that there is a newer version, Windows PV Drivers 3.2, patch ID 16863114 but I cannot access it as it is behind support section and I have no currently active support agreement. Is there any way to get 3.2 drivers without support agreement or do I have to pay for the support? Is Oracle going to publish the driver for everybody in the near future?

Thanks and regards,

Janne
