Oracle VM on laptop using external USB drive

I am having a DELL laptop with 4GB RAM with Windows 7. I plan to upgrade it to 8GB.

I also have 500GB external USB drive.

I want to install Oracle VM on that external drive and dont want to mess up with laptop internal drive. Also want to make system dual boot so that I can use Windows 7 as well.

Is there any documentation for this?

please guide.
