oracle vm capacity planning for p2v

event10053Apr 29 2010 — edited May 5 2010
hi all,

This is for an x86-64 oracle vm software.

How would one determine, how many domu can go on to one physical server ?
With VMware one could use the capacity planing tool , although people said thats still a guess.
Surly there must be a more scientific why to do this or at least get it close to correct.

Furtherer questions . And this one is controversial, but lets see if we can get an answer.
How does Oracle do the cpu lizensince on oracle vm for the RDBMS database.

Do you pay for the fiscal cpu do you have to pay for the vcpus ?
Let's take an example , you have a box with 4 cpu's 4 cors each , do you have to pay for 4X4X0.5 and you can put as many domu and RDBMS dbs on it as you like or is it a bit more complex.
How does hard partitioning fit into this
