Greetings,

We are hard partitioning Internet Application Server EE (both processor and NUPs) and Oracle Database Enterprise Edition (both processor and NUPs) on Oracle Linux VMs on Oracle VM and have been unable to get a definitive response regarding the Named User Plus Licensing (NUPs) on VMs on Oracle VM. We have the processor hard partitioning covered, but the NUPs have been a challenge regarding licensing compliance with or without hard partitioning on oracle vm. Please consider the following:
a) Oracle Database Enterprise Edition NUPs are limited to 25 NUPs per processor
b) Internet Application Server EE are limited to 10 NUPs per processor
c) We have hear verbally although not in writing that NUPs can be converted to processor licenses :)

Could you please share your experiences with NUPs and oracle VM with or without hard partitioning?

For example:
1) Application Server EE NUPs Examples
a) One Application Server EE VM with one pinned CPU can support 10 NUPs
b) One Application Server EE VM with two pinned CPUs (on a 2 socket ovm box, each vCPU is pinned to each socket/CPU) can support 20 NUPs
c) One Application Server EE VM with four pinned CPUs (on a 4 socket ovm box, each vCPU is pinned to each socket/CPU) can support 40 NUPs

2) Oracle Database Enterprise Edition NUPs Examples
a) One Oracle Database Enterprise Edition with one pinned CPU can support 25 NUPs
b) One Oracle Database Enterprise Edition VM wit two pinned CPUs (on a 2 socket ovm box, each vCPU is pinned to each socket/CPU) can support 50 NUPs
c) One Oracle Database Enterprise Edition VM wit four pinned CPUs (on a 4 socket ovm box, each vCPU is pinned to each socket/CPU) can support 100 NUPs

3) Can NUPs be converted to processor licenses?
a) Can NUPs be converted to processor licenses, i.e. 25 Oracle Database Enterprise Edition NUPs = 1 processor license?
b) Can NUPs be converted to processor licenses, i.e. 10 Application Server EE NUPs = 1 processor license?
