Oracle VM 3.0 Manager installation: invalid mountpoint

MallanderSep 15 2011 — edited Sep 15 2011
Hi

First of all, I'm a complete novice in everything Linux so please forgive me if I ask stupid questions, and I have tried to search for this error and not found anything that seems to be connected to this problem.

I have installed Oracle VM 3.0 Server on my new monster lab-sever, I had no error while installing but I might have done something wrong with setting up IPs, looking into that separetaly

As far as I can tell I have followed the manual (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E20065_01/doc.30/e18548.pdf), now on step 3.4.2 in the installation manual, cd to my mounted cd and type: ./runInstaller.sh

Pretty quickly (no other feedback on the screen) I get this error:

Invalid mountpoint /root...

I managed to open the install-script on another computer (vi doesn't work on the server even though the manual refers to it)

#!/bin/bash

case $0 in
/*)
ABSPATH=`dirname $0`
;;
*)
ABSPATH=$PWD/`dirname $0`
;;
esac

case $ABSPATH in
/root*)
echo "Invalid mountpoint /root..."
exit 1
;;
/u01*)
echo "Invalid mountpoint /u01..."
exit 1
;;
/tmp*)
echo "Invalid mountpoint /tmp..."
exit 1
;;
esac

sh $ABSPATH/ovmm-installer.bsx --dir=$ABSPATH/components $*
exit $?

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can spare a moment to help me.

/Rob
