oracle vm 3.0.2 - doesn't recognize my local storage for a repository
jepvaDec 5 2011 — edited Dec 13 2011I've been using oracle vm 2.2 for awhile and trying to upgrade to 3.0 - have a machine up and running with it but noticed it does not seem to recognize the local storage on the server. I read the notes in the VM Manager guide, apparently it should appear when I go to create a new repository but nothing shows up. I used the default partition layout in the oracle vm server installation. I read a note about the VM software needing local storage to be "unpartitioned", does this mean I will need to re-install the server and not use the default layout, but create a layout and leave unformatted/unpartitioned space for it to be recognized? Seems much more complicated than how things were in VM 2.2 where my OVS repository was auto created with all free local space. I do not use SANs for my environment and VM implementation so local storage support is needed.
Also, there is a note in the guide that says if you are using local storage you can no longer transfer the vm images or ISO files between servers. I really hope that's not the case...
