Oracle Standard: one procedure only per package

2816023Dec 17 2014 — edited Dec 20 2014

Hi All

I would like some guidance on the advantages and disadvantages of enforcing a standard of having a single procedure/function per oracle package.  It is a standard i have never seen before but is one i have been asked to follow.  I'm sure there are many advantages which i am not aware of, and would be grateful if you would share your thoughts.

The advantages that have been explained are:

Support -  Shorter modules with a single purpose ar more easily maintained

Continuous Integration - Small discreet modules are more readily assimilated into Continuous Integration and build process (this appears to be the main driver for the standard)

Fine Grain Security - Small distinct packages lend themselves to a finer grained security model.

Compilation Dependencies - Altering code will have a less impact on re-compilation dependencies
