Oracle SE2 licensing when 1 of 2 sockets occupied

TomstevensAug 1 2019 — edited Aug 2 2019

Hi!

We are in the process of buying a new server and I am trying to figure out how many Oracle SE2 processor licenses we need. The situation would be:

HP Proliant DL380 with 2 sockets, but only 1 socket is occupied with a Xeon processor.

The most recent price list (https://www.oracle.com/assets/technology-price-list-070617.pdf, page 9 under "Processor") tells me:

When licensing Oracle programs with Standard Edition One, Standard Edition 2 or Standard Edition in the product name (with the exception of W ebCenter Enterprise Capture Standard Edition, Java SE Support, Java SE Advanced, and Java SE Suite), a processor is counted equivalent to an occupied socket;

So I guess we are fine with just one SE2 processor license?

Many thanks!
