Oracle replacement for PATINDEX

Hi,

does anyone know an equivallent for PATINDEX from sql server ?

let me remind you:
PATINDEX ( '%pattern%' , expression ) in t-sql is sometring like instr, but it supports wildcards.

I need something like this in oracle.

Please help
