Oracle regular expressions REGEXP_SUBSTR

Hi,
I'm relatively new here and this is might be a kind of silly.
Start using reg expressiona and do not know how to get the second pattern from the end (7 in this case)?

select REGEXP_SUBSTR('1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8' ,'[^/]+$',1, 1),
REGEXP_SUBSTR('1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8' ,'[^/]+$',1, 2),
REGEXP_SUBSTR('1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8' ,'[^/]+$')
from dual;

Please help.
