Oracle RAC or Hardware

Our product uses an Oracle database that is running at 90% CPU on a Sun 440 box. I am looking for ways to solve the CPU bottleneck. I can either go and invest in hardware like 880 or go the cluster (RAC) route. Most likely it will be two instance install for RAC. Any pointers?
