Oracle Memory Usage by client processes

There are several client connections from application side with the name "oracle<SID> (LOCAL=NO)" will use lot of memory (some processes use >100M). My question is.... Are those processes use the memory allocated to the database OR the memory in the OS (out of database)?. If it's using going to use both... what is the ratio?.
