Oracle Linux OS, Oracle XE 12.2 - remote connection issues

2e187059-f7ec-4ec1-8ab0-1693841fb990Jan 11 2016 — edited Jan 12 2016

Hello,

New to Oracle Linux and Oracle XE.  I believe I have an issue with configuring my listener (or host file) up correctly and need some help.  My enclave and symptoms are:

Two servers - Web Server and DB Server (I am just trying to get a remote connection to the DB server at this time)

Both running Oracle Linux.- Base install meaning Firewall or iptables were not yummed to the machines. There is no firewall!!!!

Running in VMware.

I am able to start and import data into the database.  My database seems to be fine.

I am not able to remote connect to the database.

I can ping between the machines.

I receive a TNS-12543: TNS: destination host unreachable when I do a TNSPING. (BTW, I tried to hit the DB server from an Oracle client on a Windows machine and I received the same error.)

Any help would be appreciated.

What do valid responses from netstat or ss look like on a DB Server with the listener properly configured? What are other clues/keys I can look for to help me with this issue?  I can post screen shots.  Thanks.

Bart
