Oracle Linux on Virtual Machine is too slow

Dear Experts

I am using HP pavillion dv6 with AMD QuadCore Processor, RAM 6GB, HDD 640 GB
I have unstalled virtual machine on it vmwarw workstation 6.5
On this VM i Installed OEL4 32bit with 1 GB RAM allocation. it installed normally. But after installation it asks for reboot i reboot it from then reboot is too long and performance of VM
is tooo low. almost 30 minutes to boot. and after booting overall VM very low in performance.
please help me out i am stuck here.
