ORACLE Instance XXX - Can not allocate log, archival required

Dear all,

The database is running but it seems we cannot update large amount of data (DML operations).
After I found that there is a message in alert log saying "thread 1 cannot allocate new log".

All online logs needed archiving
Current log# 1 seq# 10 mem# 0: /u01/oracle/obsdata/log01a.dbf

Database version: 9.2.0.3

I don't know what went wrong and please advice.
