oracle_home path will it be updated?

Hi All,
i am installing 12.1.2.0 oracle database on windows.

Trying my best effort to make sure the configuration is of standard.

Starting with the oracle_home path.

my setting:

oracle_base = D:\oracle\product

oracle_home D:\oracle\product\12.1.0\dbhome_1

i was thinking what happen when i apply a patchset that will upgrade the database version to 12.2.0x ?

I can't be possible rename the folder isn't it?

But if i am not wrong, the patchset will actally update the patch to 12.2.0 xx ???
