Oracle Forms 6i Client Server - Licencing Question
My client has been running an Oracle Forms 6i application in client server mode since 1998 (well originally 4.5)
While talking to Oracle about migrating to 10G forms by purchasing the App Server, the sales guy said that they had no record of any runtime licenses for the forms 6i application already in place and this would have to be rectified.
As far as I know there never was any runtime licensing requirement for forms 6i client server once you had the necessary developer licenses. Runtime licensing only arrived in the back door through the introduction of the app server for running forms.
So I have two questions:
1. I am right in that originally there was no runtime licenses required for client server deployed forms (other than database licenses of course)
2. Can oracle insist in charging runtime licensing now for customers still running forms in client server mode
As we are going to migrate to the app server anyway, the licensing will have to be put in place but they are talking about recouping maintenance back over the years.
