Oracle Forms 10g: IE8 Crashes When Running Form (JRE 1.6.0.30)

I've recently made change in my formsweb.cfg file to use JRE 1.6.xx instead of JInitiator 1.3xx following the Oracle whitepaper. I have a seperate named configuration for using JRE while the current configuration is using JInitiator. I downloaded the latest version of Java on the local computer and uninstalled Oracle JInitiator. The problem is Internet Explorer crashes or quits with the new url. In the past, I've replaced the jvm.dll in the JInitator - bin - hotsport folder and this resolves the issue. Since I'm not using Oracle Jinitiator, this folder doesn't or shouldn't exist with new installations.
Any clues on where I should hunt next? The switch to JRE isn't completed in our production environment yet. Thanks.
