Oracle Fail Safe on Linux

661463Mar 3 2010 — edited Mar 21 2010
Hello,

Oracle 10.2.0.4
Redhat 5.4

This database is today running on a single instance node, i would like to implement a fail safe function to this database.

First we discussed to create a Red Hat cluster using cluster suite, however we are not sure about the oracle data consistency when node 1 dies and node 2 should take up the work, this would require some high level manual work, it seems to us.

I suggested Oracle RAC, but i have doubts.

Can Oracle RAC adopt an fail safe function? We dont want load balancing, or shared cache and whatnot, i simply need that node 2 takes up the work if node 1 die, its okey if this take the time required for it to mount up and start.

Please advice me.

Thanks,
