Oracle Enterprise Linux for SPARC on Solaris 10 Control Domain

ODeskJun 26 2017 — edited Jun 27 2017

Hello all, I apologise if this is the wrong forum to post to.

I've downloaded the current Oracle Enterprise Linux for SPARC from Oracle Linux for SPARC for downloads to have a play with (Oracle Linux 6.7 UEK4), as I find it helpful to have a Linux machine as a sandpit, but it would be convenient to have a guest running on my T4-2 box instead of a standalone x86 box.

The install requirements seem to be a bit vague.  I tried installing into an LDOM guest which has Solaris 10 as the primary control domain and the primary it panics when I run the Linux installation ISO in the guest.  Yes, the primary control Solaris 10 domain panics, not the guest!

The installation guide I found here 6.1 Hardware and Software Requirements talks about the requirements when running Linux as a control domain, but I can't seem to find anything about when running as a guest.  It seems to suggest to me that if you run as a guest, your control domain must be Oracle Linux 6 Update 7 (SPARC) UEK R4.  There is reference to Solaris 11.3 but does not specifically say if Solaris of any version is supported for the control domain.

I understand the SPARC version is only a developer preview and is early days, but if Solaris is not supported for the primary I am not going to bother   My hardware and firmware are supported versions.  Anyone know if Solaris primary is supposed to be supported?
