Oracle Enterprise Edition Licensing - Core metrics

mcarbonApr 25 2013 — edited May 1 2013
Oracle: 10G (10.2.0.4) 64-bit, Enterprise Edition
Running on Xeon Intel chips, of which I believe have a core factor multiple of 0.5

We have 540 NUP licenses on our site. We obviously have a Live box, and a few test boxes.

One of our test boxes has 4 cores (Intel Xeon chip). Using the minimum usage licensing for Enterprise Edition, after the core factor of 0.5 is applied we would count 2 cores, I believe we would need 25 NUP licenses per core, which would = 50 NUP minimum for this test box.

Is this correct??

My concern is that there may be a minimum of 4 cores (after factor) for Enterprise Edition. I cannot find anything that confirms this. I can only find maximums for Standard Edition, nothing for Enterprise Edition.

If there is a minimum of 4 cores, then I need to pull out one of these test boxes.

Anyone knows the facts on this?

Many thanks.
