Oracle EDI Gateway with Oracle B2B v/s BPEL and Oracle B2B

1765785Apr 21 2014 — edited May 8 2014

Hello,

Looking for some direction client is currently on Oracle EDI and is using a third party EDI translator to send the EDI documents to vendors, we want to replace the third party translator with Oracle B2B and working to find the best approach to achieve this. Among other approaches discussed one of the approach which we discussed was using Oracle File adapter to transform the edi Flat file to XML and prepare a EDI XML in BPEL which would be fed to Oracle B2B, which ultimately would translate the document and send out to vendor.

We thought about using XML gateway but gave up since there are a lot of proprietary development in edi packages and views which would have to be redone. As part of POC this approach works fine am trying to see if there is a trade off or any other downside following this approach as Oracle seems to be recommending using the eBS adapter and having all the business logic in BPEL for all the greenfield implementations for B2B. Can anyone highlight if there are any downwides/advantages/disadvantages of using eBS adapter v/s the approach I outlined above?

Thanks

Manish
