Oracle Desinger: How to install and login

Hi,

I installed Oracle 10g Express Edition Database software on my Windows XP and after that i installed 10g Designer software under same Oracle home. Then i tried to launch the Oracle Desinger by giving login details and Service Name or hostname as connect string but i'm not able to login to Designer. It comes up with no listener error and no repository error.

Then i uninstalled database and designer software and tried the same thing with Standard Edition of Oracle 10g database but the result is the same. I'm quite new to this Designer software and i'm not able to find right install procedure to achieve this installation successful. Could someone point me right steps to resolve my issue.
