Oracle dbms_job procedure

Hi
i have scheduled a job in oracle to run pl/sql procedures and some java stored procedures using dbms_job procedure.
the job should run on a daily basis.
sometimes this job is not working correctly and the next_date is getting incremented to 1/1/4000.
because of this the job is not running daily.
it happened on dec31 and again on jan15

please suggest a solution for this.
