Oracle DBA and SQL Server DBA

615452May 20 2008 — edited May 22 2008
Hi friends,

I know this is off topic from this forum...please advice me, whether I am going in direct direction or not......

Basically I am an Oracle DBA ( Including Oracle Apps DBA) with 4 Years experience. Recently i mean 4 months back I started working on SQL Server DBA also in client side( This client has both Oracle Apps and another applications runnning with SQL Server). Client forced me to do SQL Server DBA also. I have implemented log shipping in SQL Server ( which is same as Data guard in Oracle) and now working on SQL Server clustering( which is same as RAC in oracle).....

In between I am getting fear that, If I indulge more in SQL Server, i will forget oracle things which is core for me....

in future job prospectives, If i learn sql server is it good for me???....at the same time, I can not leave Oracle Apps DBA which i have more interest...

Please provide some suggestions...what do you think in this regard....if you all guys tell me to dont jump into sql server..i will stop working on this....I will receive positively any comments from you.....

I know this is off topic..
