Oracle DB license on Sparc/non-Sparc hardware for Solaris 11 VM

Abhishek SinghSep 10 2020 — edited Sep 10 2020

Three requirements, where I need help -

1- We have installed Solaris 11 on this hardware (Sparc S7) and another similar machine. They are part of the OVM server pool and working as Oracle VM server. We want to create 10 Solaris VMs on top of it. From Oracle DB licensing point of view, we are not supposed to use more than 2 CPU per VM. We are following the same on Solaris non global zones. Will it be similar on these OVM servers too?

That means if we assign 2 CPU to each VM, will we violate licensing terms or it should be okay? Or licenses will be calculated on host-based (physical server)?

2- We have 2 Dell PowerEdge R740 server. We will be installing Solaris 11 on them and they will be installed as part of OVM server pool. The rest is still same as above. Will the same licensing concept work for these non-Oracle hardware too?

3- We have 2 Dell PowerEdge R740 server. We will be installing Oracle VM server on them and they will be installed as part of OVM server pool. The rest is still same as above. Will the same licensing concept work for these non-Oracle hardware too?

Thanks
