Oracle Database Tables

Hello, everyone!

I am fairly new to Oracle. I took SQL fundamentals, Admin Workshop I & II and I am currently getting ready to take my OCA exam.

Here where I work we have Oracle 10g and EBS R12.

Can anyone help me as to how to better understand the structure of each table in Oracle? A third party vendor came in and implemented Oracle and I have seen the queries they have created and noticed that it is off the 8i syntax, I learned most recent syntax. Anyway, when I look at these queries, I just stop to wonder, how in the world did they know how to create a left out join or a particular criteria. I know SQL and the syntax, I am just not familiar with the tables.

Any help will do as to guide me in the right direction.
