Oracle Database 10g - Install on a personal Computer - STUDENT at RM U

779708Jun 16 2010 — edited Jun 16 2010
I am a student at Robert Morris University in Chicago.
I am taking a DATABASE class and we are using the book

Oracle 10g: SQL written by Joan Casteel.

Included with the book are two (2) CD's with the Oracle 10g database
that can be installed on a personal computer and are used for the class.
The first CD is labeled: Oracle Database 10g
Relase 2(10.2.0.1.0)
for Microsoft Windows (32bit)
Developer License
The second CD is labeled: Oracle Database 10g - Companioon CD
Release 2(10.2.0.1.0)
Developer License

Acording to the book they tell you to go to the following website and
register the software and receive a password.
http://otn.oracle.com/books
Select this book (Oracle 10g by Joan Casteel)
and receive a password.
I did so and received the following password
0100070-50
When I insert the first of the CDs (not the companion one), it comes up and asks
if I want to install. I click on the install.
It brings up a screen which has the directory name and path it will store the software (which is OK)
It has a selection for the type of installation (I select personal use)
and it asks for the password and to rekey the password
I key in the password above for both and click on NEXT
the following error comes up:

Abnormal Termination
Abnormal program termination. An internal error has occured.
Please provide the following files to Oracle support.

"Unknown"
"Unknown"
"Unknown"

Also tried doing the install with the COMPANION CD with the same results.

Please help!
Thanks
