Oracle Data Guard License Inquiry

615108Aug 3 2009 — edited Mar 2 2010
Good Day! to all. I am not sure if this is already asked before, but I would like to ask your help regarding my inquiry.

We have an Oracle 10g Database EE here in our company that is set up in an RAC (2 Nodes and 1 SAN). Of course this are already licensed.

We are planning to implement the Oracle Data Guard.

Of course the Oracle Data Guard will be purposely implemented for a Disaster Recovery, in case our RAC (esp. the SAN) will crash, we would like to have a physically separated stand by server to be our Primary Database Server (The stand by server is totally separated to our existing primary server).

My questions are:

1. Do we have to avail a new license for the Data Guard?
2. What other license should we acquire for the above mentioned set-up?
3. Should we have a separate Oracle Database Installation on the standby server?
4. If we have a 150 named-user license on the primary database should we acquire a new 150 named-user license for the stand-by server?
5. Are there any other things that i have to consider in terms of licensing for our Project?
