Oracle connecting to SharePoint/SQL Server and to get SharePoint/SQL Server data to Oracle database

Wei QinSep 4 2018 — edited Sep 5 2018

Hello,

I have a general question about Oracle connecting to SharePoint/SQL Server and to get SharePoint/SQL Server data to Oracle database: I know we can have a linked server in SQL Server pointing to an Oracle database and directly inserting data into Oracle table from SQL Server via the linked server, I can also do direct query XML data from SharePoint contents related tables in SQL server, but this "direct" query against SharePoint/SQL server database is not supported and not recommended in many discussions. In SharePoint world, REST API is recommended, but how do we launch REST API from within SQL Server or remote/connected Oracle database to get SharePoint data into Oracle ?  Are there other possible solutions?  Would Oracle ORDS be used to meet our needs?

Thanks !

Wei
