oracle client for mac

Hi All,
I am a newbie so please bear with me.I need to install an oracle client for mac.I downloaded the software called"Oracle Database 10g Client Release 1 (10.1.0.3) for Apple Mac OS X".Its a .gz file that starts to download.I was expecting a .dmg.I am not able to see/launch the interface to connect to remote interface.Now maybe I downloaded the wrong software.Could anyone please advise me as to what I should be doing next?
