Oracle Client 11gR2 on openSuse Linux 11.2 64-bit installation issues

Hi,

I am trying to perform "CUSTOM" installation of the oracle client software as I need to install the COBOL pre-compilers. As read in other threads, I have installed the required libraries by installing them usiny YAST (by selecting C/C++ libraries pattern).

But while installing the client it asks me for the glibc-common-2.3.4 library. I have checked the internet but I am not finding any such package for the openSuse 11.2 version. I tried downloading the CentOS version of this RPM and then installed its dependencies tzdata package (>2003a) etc.

But when I am installing, I get the following error:
+INFO: /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.4/../../../../x86_64-suse-linux/bin/ld: skipping incompatible /usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.4/libgcc.a when searching for -lgcc+
+/usr/lib64/gcc/x86_64-suse-linux/4.4/../../../../x86_64-suse-linux/bin/ld: cannot find -lgcc+
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
genclntsh: Failed to link libclntsh.so.11.1
+make: *** [client_sharedlib] Error 1+

Has anyone been successful in installing the Oracle Client on openSuse 11.2 64-bit? I would appreciate any help in resolving the same.

Thanks & regards,
Vinay
