Oracle Business Rules / Oracle Rules Manager /Oracle policy automation

user10601711Nov 6 2014 — edited Nov 16 2014

Hi

I am working for Credit Suisse DWH. We are doing Tool Analysis for Business rules management(BRM) integrated with Business rules engine(BRE).

Basically in regulatory reporting or during some KPI calculation, the business team want to specify dynamically some business rules in Production.

These rules have to be executed and the results persistently stored in DWH for immediate reporting and for later auditing purposes.

In DWH huge amount of data gets loaded/processed everyday.(We are using Informatica Power Center as the ETL tool).

The rules have to be applied as well on this huge amount of data. So processing and execution of the business rules is expected to be performant if it is done in the RDBMS itself.

We have been analysing quite some products, but many have the rule execution in the Applicaton server and not in DB. Therefore we considered such products less suitable/performant for our purposes.

Oracle was primarily focussing on RDBMS solutions.

I see in the Oracle product palette lots of different tools such as Oracle Business rules/Oracle Rules Manager/Oracle Policy automation.

We are already in contact with a local Oracle Accounts Manager who has presented us about DRM and OPA.

Now my question to the community is

is it possible to use Oracle Business Rules for BRM and Oracle Rules Manager for BRE purposes to have efficient processing of rule execution in DB?

is it possible to interface OBR and ORM to generate PL/SQL necessary for rules entered in the OBR product?

are there any other products in the Oracle tool palette to address our requirements ?

are there other customers who have had similar requirement like us and what product is being used by them?

Thanks and regards

Subathra Sangameswaran.
