Hello All,
I'm trying to setup ASM on an dell MD1000 with 15 disks. I've never done this and have no system administrator at my disposal. I understand that I must create a partition, or two since I want to use two diskgroups
DATA & RECOVERY.
No I'm completely lost and would appreciate any help I can get, this a pretty urgent matter.
Pretty much have not clue what I'm doing.
ENV:
Server: Dell R710
Array: MD1000 x 15 disks 73GB
OS: RedHat Linux 5 Enterprise Linux
RAM: 16 GB
Here is what I've done so far:
- I deleted all the virtual disks configured on the array.
- Installed ASMlib
Preparing... ########################################### [100%]
1:oracleasm-support ########################################### [ 33%]
2:oracleasm-2.6.18-194.8.########################################### [ 67%]
3:oracleasmlib ########################################### [100%]
- fdisk -l gives me the following output
[root@PHAETON2 ~]# fdisk -l
Disk /dev/sda: 146.1 GB, 146163105792 bytes
255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 17769 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes

/dev/sda3 17387 17768 3068415 83 Linux
- ls -la on /dev gives me
[....] sda sda1
sda2 sda3

sg2 sg2
From what I can tell, SDA are the on-board disks and not the disks on the disk array. Can anybody tell me how to make make the partition for the two diskgroups i want
DATA and RECOVER.
Thank you in advance for any assitance.
