Oracle APEX in an Open Source project

4037082Jun 24 2020 — edited Jun 30 2020

Hello everyone,

i'm sorry if the question has already been posted. I am trying to understand whether i can start an open source project with the web interface developed using APEX, or not.

The idea is simple: An open source project provides a web interface built on APEX, using apex 18c at the beginning (given its limits). This allows the user to create the infrastructure that provides the service (basically to create a POC).

If/when the service is accepted by the business, to make it reliable/resiliant the admin can opt to get an Oracle Database license (SE2, EE..) and get an Oracle Support cotnract. The database is Oracle, not open source, but the app would still be open source even if deployed on apex?

For enterprise use, there is no doubts. For an open source project, when the desire is to "push" a company to use an Oracle Database (for the db), maybe you can still use APEX?

BRIEFLY: Am i allowed to use APEX (for the front end) in an open source project?

Thanks in advance for any help,

./Cheers
