Oracle 9i on Red Hat Linux !!!

423001Jul 17 2004 — edited Jul 22 2004
Hello,

I know that Oracle 9i is certified for the Linux Red Hat Enterprise 3 operating system.

At the moment, I have a Linux Server running Red Hat 8.
By searching the net, I havee found that some people have installed Oracle 9i on either the Red Hat 8 or Red Hat 9 operating systems and have encountered installation errors.

I have also found that their are work-arounds for the installation encountered during the installation for those operating systems.

1) What does all this mean ?
2) Applying the work-arounds, could I run an Oracle 9i database with and Oracle 9i iAS (Application Server) on Red Hat 8 or 9 ?

3) What does certification realy mean ?

Regards,

Paolo
