Oracle 8i Client with XP 64

999411Mar 26 2013 — edited Mar 26 2013
Folks,

I have scanned the forums for some post on this, but I havent found anything directly related. We are supporting maintenance of 8i databases and it isnt an option to upgrade at this point.

I have installed an Oracle 8i client on an XP 64bit platform. I have configured the ODBC server connection settings using the 32 bit ODBC admin tools. And I have a valid TNSNAMES.ORA file in use that works on other machines to connect to the server. The path to the oracle \bin exists in my environment variables settings. When I attempt to connect to our server using the conventional in-house tools, I get the error "ORA 6413 "Connection not open.". However, when I use the "Oracle ODBC test" GUI, I can see the tables to to the DB on our server and seem to connect.

I know this product is probably not supported. But this is not an option for us. I must support this applications use. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
