Oracle 8.1.7 Installation Problem

Encountered problem installing Oracle on a Pentium 4 Win ME PC.
Error message as follows:

Jrew has now caused an error in JAVAI.DLL.
Jrew will now close.
If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your
computer.

Installation worked fine on Pentium 3 Win ME.
Any help is much appreciated; thanks!
