Oracle 8.1.7 installation

I'm running Windows-2000 Professional on my workstation. I downloaded Oracle 8i (8.1.7 ) server (the zip file) from technet.oracle.com. Extracted the files from the zip. And then I tried to install oracle by running setup.exe but it just came back without doing anything. I rebooted the machine and reran setup.exe, but still nothing happened. I also tried running autorun.exe but with the same luck. I don't know what's going on. And I would appreciate any help.

PS: I have more than 10 GB of free space and 512MB of RAM.
